TUTORIAL #2 SPECIFYING LED LIGHTING FIXTURES:WHAT LIGHTING DESIGNERS AND
SPECIFIERS NEED TO KNOW
Wednesday, February 10 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
SPEAKER:
Scott Riesebosch
President and Founder
CRS Electronics
This tutorial will be somewhat more advanced than Tutorial #1, and will focus more on LED luminaires than on devices. It will address how to specify LED fixtures for both indoor and outdoor lighting applications. Attendees will learn about operating characteristics, average-rated-life, lumen output, and other important specification factors. It will also provide instruction on how to compare LED fixtures from different lighting manufacturers, and how to tell the difference between a “good” fixture and a “bad” fixture. It will provide a check list of the important questions that lighting designers and specifiers should ask prospective luminaire suppliers to help ensure that the product will perform as specified.
Scott Riesebosch has a degree in electrical engineering from McMaster University and has been designing and manufacturing high output LED light engines and luminares since 1998 when the first high output LEDs came to market. He is the President of CRS Electronics, an electronic contract manufacturer that specializes in LED sub-assemblies. Mr. Riesebosch has been a speaker at a number of conferences including IES, IIDEX, CPTED, LEDs 2008, IALD 2008, and more, educating businesses and consumers in an effort to assist them in making better and informed purchasing decisions regarding LED technology. He recently conducted a webcast entitled “Essentials for Designing LED Luminaires” on behalf of LEDs Magazine, which drew an audience of approximately 600 LED industry professionals. He has been a guest on the popular “Powerlines” radio show in Toronto hosted by Peter Love, chief conservation officer for the Ontario Power Authority. Lighting applications in which Mr. Riesebosch has been involved include military, aviation, medical, retail signage, automotive, flashlights, emergency vehicles, architectural, underwater, theatrical, street lighting, and halogen replacements.
