The UL Solutions Neu-Isenburg, Germany site recently supported Girls’ Day, an initiative in Germany that encourages young women to explore opportunities in science and technology. The event educated and inspired young women to learn more about the important role of laboratory technicians. Students learned about our mission and services and then delved into hands-on activities in the lab where they explored various testing methods, including leak testing in the water room and flammability testing in the flame test room. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has developed a guidance document on the new law (Minn. Stat. § 325E.3892) to protect children and families from exposure to lead and cadmium. This law restricts 15 products in certain categories containing lead at more than 90 parts per million or cadmium at more than 75 parts per million. This page provides guidance on the implementation of the law and a guide for regulated persons in determining what products or components of those products may be covered under the statute. As part of a new PFAS action plan, the Danish government proposes to introduce a national ban on PFAS in clothing, shoes and waterproofing agents. PFAS in professional clothing and safety clothing will not be part of the ban. The executive order on the ban is expected to be ready on 1 July 2025. The government proposes to give business a transition period of one year, so that the ban applies from 1 July 2026. The ban will be implemented in practice by setting limit values that ensure that PFAS cannot be deliberately used in clothing, shoes and impregnation. On December 21, 2023, Taiwan’s Bureau of Standards and Inspection (BSMI) released CNS 15290:2023 - Textile Safety Code (General Requirements). This standard applies to the safety requirements for textile products. UL Solutions announced that Nan Shan Life achieved the first UL Verified Healthy Building Mark for Indoor Environment in Taiwan for its headquarters in Taipei City — a significant milestone in promoting the importance of indoor environmental quality in the region.
